Donnay

Emile Donnay was born in Belgium in 1885. At the age of 24, he held the position of general manager of a successful chain of stores called Courtheoux.

In 1910, Emile founded the Donnay Company and, as a side business, in 1913 he founded a company producing broom handles to meet the high demand from the coal mining industry. This venture was so successful that, 14 years later, Emile built new premises for the company in Couvin, also in Belgium.

In 1934, the Donnay Company built its first wooden tennis racket for Arthur Ash. Since then, Donnay has produced millions of tennis rackets worldwide.

Donnay rackets have been chosen by the best players in the world including Rod Laver, Margaret Court, Cliff Drysdale, Björn Borg, and Andre Agassi.
